Disclosure Scotland is an Executive Agency of the Scottish Government designed to enhance public safety, and provide potential employers and voluntary sector organisations with criminal history information on individuals applying for posts. Disclosure Scotland was established in April 2002 to deliver Scottish Ministers’ functions under Part V of the Police Act 1997.
The Disclosure Scotland web site states that:
"Disclosure Scotland issues certificates - known as 'Disclosures' - which give details of an individual's criminal convictions, or state that they have none. Enhanced Disclosures, where appropriate, will also contain information held by police forces and other Government bodies."
Residents of England and Wales should refer to the CRB (Criminal Records Bureau), and for residents of Northern Ireland the equivalent is Access NI.
