CQC Registration & Admission Criteria

All existing English Care Provider registrations under the Care Standards Act 2000 ceased to have effect on 1st October 2010, since then they have been required to register under the new Act. The CQC has pointed out explicitly in their letters regarding registration that the Provider will be committing a criminal offence, if they do not register under the new Act.

In order to register, the Care Provider must complete a declaration as to whether their service meets the 16 CQC Outcomes of the Essential standards of quality and safety which are required by the new Regulations.

CQC Outcome Implications

If the Provider is not able to declare that they meet any one or more of the CQC standards, they must state specifically why they do not in each case, and offer a SMART action plan to remedy the non-compliance.

The Provider must understand the new requirements in order to understand whether they meet the standards, and offer an action plan if they do not.
