Quality Control Policies and Documentation for Adult Social Care
The QCS Management System has been designed to cover every aspect of running a Quality and Compliant Social Care Service, while simultaneously ensuring that it is fully updated with all the latest regulatory developments. Our aim is to provide a fully customised and comprehensive service, which is the simplest way of gaining your CQC registration and then maintaining compliance.
The CQC
The Care Quality Commission is the regulatory body in England for Health and Adult Social Care Professionals. The Health and Social Care Act 2008 came into force on the 1st October 2010, and since that date all existing and new English Care Providers have been required to comply with The Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2010 and the Care Quality Commission (Registration) Regulations 2009.
The CQC’s business plan states their five priorities as:
- Making Sure that care is centred on people’s needs and protects their rights
- Championing joined-up care
- Acting swiftly to help eliminate poor quality care
- Promoting high quality care
- Regulating effectively, in partnership
CQC monitoring
The CQC monitors the performance of adult social care agencies (Care Homes, Nursing Homes, Domiciliary Cares, etc) that perform any of the following 15 regulated activities as per Schedule 1 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2010:
- Personal Care
- Accommodation for persons who require nursing or personal care
- Accommodation for persons who require treatment for substance misuse
- Accommodation and nursing or personal care in the further education sector
- Treatment of disease, disorder or injury
- Assessment or medical treatment for persons detained under the Mental Health Act 1983
- Surgical procedures
- Diagnostic and screening procedures
- Management of supply of blood and blood-derived products
- Transport services, triage and medical advice provided remotely
- Maternity and midwifery services
- Termination of pregnancies
- Services in slimming clinics
- Nursing care
- Family planning services
Companies or individuals that provide the above activities must register with the CQC and will thereafter be monitored for compliance with the 16 Key CQC Outcomes of Essential Standards and 12 Regulatory Outcomes. Find more details regarding the outcomes in the Registration with the CQC section.
