Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006
The Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act, which came into force in November 2006, brings with it significant changes in the way that the background and suitability of people who work with children or vulnerable adults are checked. The Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 brings into being, over a number of years, a "Barred" list of persons who are assessed as not suitable for working with venerable adults and children.
As at July 2010, the government has announced a review of the vetting and barring scheme, and further introduction has been suspended.
The requirements of the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 are incorporated into the Quality Care Systems Ltd care management system, and any change to the legislation and Standards introduced in the future will be accommodated by changes to the system.
