The Health and Personal Social Services (Quality, Improvement and Regulation) (Northern Ireland) Order 2003 gave the powers to set up the Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority (RQIA) which is responsible for monitoring and inspecting the availability and quality of health and social services in Northern Ireland, and encouraging quality improvements in the services for which it is responsible.
The requirements of the Health and Personal Social Services (Quality, Improvement and Regulation) (Northern Ireland) Order 2003 are incorporated into the Quality Care Systems Ltd care management system, and any change to the legislation and Standards introduced in the future will be accommodated by changes to the system.
